Plans, trial and payments
Last updated:
Gotachat has four monthly plans, a free trial with no card, and ways to add exactly the capacity you need. This article explains how they work; the current prices and limits are always on Plans and prices.
The plans
Every plan includes a monthly number of conversations, chatbots, domains per chatbot, characters of knowledge, administrators and live chat advisors. Choose by the conversations you expect each month, then by the people and chatbots you need:
- Starter: one small business answering its customers on one or two websites.
- Pro: a growing team with live chat, several sites or brands, and no "Powered by".
- Business: many brands, sites and languages, with a larger team attending live chat.
- Enterprise: large operations, with the most capacity of all plans, priority support and higher add-on limits. You buy it yourself, like any other plan.
If you are between two plans, start with the smaller one and add only what you lack with add-ons; the plans page tells you when a bigger plan would cost you less. Plans are billed monthly in US dollars; annual billing is not available yet. See every number on Plans and prices.
What counts as a conversation
A conversation starts when a visitor asks a first question and the chatbot answers it. It stays the same conversation while the visitor keeps asking within 24 hours of their last question, up to 30 questions. Loading the widget, the greeting, errors, automated traffic and a visitor asking to talk to a person are never counted, and conversations with your team in live chat do not use your quota. The quota is shared by all the chatbots and domains of your account.
The free trial
- 14 days or 100 conversations, whichever comes first.
- No credit card required.
- The trial has smaller limits than the paid plans, and the widget shows "Powered by" under the AI notice.
- Conversation packs cannot be bought during the trial.
When the trial ends, the chatbot stops appearing on your website. You can still log in: your chatbots, knowledge and settings are kept, and choosing a plan turns the chatbot back on. If you do not choose a plan, the account is closed and its content deleted after 30 days.
When you pay for your first plan, you pay its full monthly price plus taxes, with no proration: your monthly period starts that day and renews every month on the same date.
Build your plan: add-ons and packs
On any paid plan you can add capacity yourself, without changing plan and without asking our team: extra chatbots, extra live chat advisors, extra administrators, extra conversations every month and extra knowledge. Add-ons renew with your plan every month, and you see your new monthly total before you confirm anything.
If you need more conversations only for a while, buy conversation packs (top-ups). They are added as soon as the payment is confirmed, need an active plan, and each one is valid for a set time after purchase. Add-on and pack prices are on Plans and prices.
Unused conversations carry over
On a monthly plan, the conversations you do not use in a month carry over to the next month, once. Each unused conversation survives exactly one more month; carried-over conversations that are not used then expire.
Conversations are used in this order: carried-over conversations first, then your plan's conversations for the month, then your packs (the one expiring soonest first).
When all the conversations of the period are used, the AI stops answering until your next period or until you add capacity. Your visitors never see an error: the widget is hidden, or, if live chat is on and someone of your team is available, it stays offering only a person.
Payments, taxes and invoices
Paddle.com is our Merchant of Record. Paddle processes the payment, calculates and collects the sales tax or VAT of your country (added at checkout, so prices do not include taxes) and issues your invoices. With a tax number, the business rules apply. Paddle emails you a receipt after every payment.
Renewal is automatic every month, charged to your saved payment method. If a renewal payment fails, you get a 7-day grace period in which your chatbot keeps working with a quarter of your monthly conversations, while you update your payment method.
Refunds and cancelling
- Full refund of any payment within 14 days of the date it was charged, for any reason: the first payment, renewals, upgrade and add-on charges, and conversation packs. Read the refund policy.
- Cancel at any time from your panel. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid, then does not renew, and nothing more is charged. Until that date you can undo the cancellation.
- Cancelling does not by itself refund the current period, but a payment less than 14 days old can be refunded.
The full conditions are in the terms of service.
